The Mission Statement of the Community Services Department
To make a difference in the Longmont community by showing
residents ways to develop skills, increase their understanding and make choices
that strengthen their own lives.
The Community Services Department consists of seven divisions that include:
- Children & Youth Resources
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)/Affordable Housing
- Community & Neighborhood Resources
- Library
- Museum
- Recreation Services
- Senior Services
Combined, these divisions offer: human services; community problem solving;
housing; neighborhood development; education; recreation and cultural services
to Longmont residents.
The Vision of the Community Services Department - "Get More From Life"
We believe the people are the city: we are a premier municipal service committed
to providing dynamic, innovative and fully accessible services for our residents
so they can live, work and play to their fullest.
This department also works with the Longmont Housing and Human Services Advisory Board to evaluate
human service needs and to recommend to City Council funding for nonprofit
agencies that provide human services to Longmont residents; oversees the operation
of the Callahan House facility, and jointly operates the Vance Brand Civic
Auditorium with the Saint Vrain Valley School District.
