Where is the Mayors office?
The Mayors Office is located in the Administration Building of the Civic
Center Complex, near the corner of Third Avenue and Kimbark Street. The number

How many Council members does Longmont have?

How is the Mayor elected?
By a majority of residents voting in a mayoral election.
How long is the Mayors term of office?
The Mayor's term is for two years.
How long do other Council members serve?
They serve for four years.
Are there term limits for the Mayor and Council Members?
Yes. The Mayor may serve two consecutive terms and Council Members may serve three consecutive terms. Per Article XVIII, Section XI of the Colorado Constitution,"no elected member of the governing board of a state institution of higher education shall serve more than two consecutive terms in office, except that with respect to terms of office which are two years or shorter in duration, no such elected official shall serve more than three consecutive terms in office."

How often are elections held?
Every two years in November, in odd-numbered years.

When are the City Council meetings held?
Regular Council meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
Study Sessions are held the first and third Tuesdays. All meetings are held
at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located in the Civic Center Complex,
unless other notification is published.
Are City Council meetings open to the public?

How can I find out what is on the Agenda for the City Council meeting?
The Agenda is posted on the Citys website and is available for viewing
usually the Friday before the upcoming meeting. Click here to
go to the listing of Agendas http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/agendas/index.htm. You can also request an agenda to be faxed to you by using the City Source
system. Call 303-774-4370 and the message number is 1184.
How can I receive a copy of the minutes for a City Council meeting?
The most recent copies can be found on our website at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/minutes/index.htm
and you can contact the City Clerks office for minutes that are not
on our site at 303-651-8648.
