Water Board
The Water Board consists of five (5) members appointed to serve five (5)
year terms. A member of the City Council serves in an ex-officio
capacity to coordinate Water Board action with City Council actions.
The purpose of the Water Board is to advise the City Council in its raw water
matters relating to the provision of a stable, sufficient, and suitable supply
of water for the community and its residents. The Board's primary functions
and duties include:
- adopting, revising, and continually updating a long range plan for development
of an adequate raw water supply and a policy pertaining to raw water requirements
for annexation, subdivisions, and replats;
- developing procedures for the transfer of water rights attached to land
being annexed to the City of Longmont, subdivided, or replatted;
- reviewing all annexations, subdivisions, and replats and recommending
to the City Council as to the adequacy of the water rights being transferred;
- reviewing and making appropriate recommendations to the City Council on
all requests for water service to outside service area and for outside City
water taps;
- making recommendations to City Council as to the uses, purchase or sale
of any water rights; and
- reviewing all matters, including pollution, concerning the City's raw
water supply.
