National Green Building Standards change.

As of Monday July 7, 2014, the City of Longmont will no longer be enforcing the 2008 national Green Bulding Stadard (NGBS) or the Longmont Green Points Ordinance. Active permits that were issued prior to this date will still need to comply with the adopted building codes that were in effect at the time of permit submittal/issuance.

Frequently Asked Questions - Do I Need a Building Permit



The City of Longmont, Building Inspection Division advises all owners and contractors planning to engage in repairs or reconstruction work created by the recent disaster, to obtain building permits prior to doing any work. Contact the building department, 385 Kimbark Street or by phone 303-651-8332 to obtain applications and information regarding these forms or see our Applications Page.

All Contractors are advised they must be registered or licensed in the City of Longmont before permits can be issued. License applications may be obtained in the Building Department or on line. The purpose of this requirement is to screen out possible opportunists from taking advantage of consumers due to the current situation.

Residents are warned not to sign blank contracts, prepay for work, or agree to have work performed without first confirming that a contractor is licensed in our City and a building permit has been issued by the building department. For more information please contact at 303-651-8332.
