Contractors -- Testing
The City of Longmont requires a
test for all General and Mechanical Contractors. Tests for General and Mechanical
Contractors are held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Tests
are given by appointment only: call 303-651-8332 to schedule a test.
Currently, the City of Longmont
does not have reciprocal licensing agreements for any other jurisdiction.
The City does honor test results from the International Code Council (ICC).
Tests are given at locations throughout the state. For details see the ICC.
Tests are open book and timed. The
City is currently testing from the International Building & Residential
Code books and the International Mechanical and Fuel Gas Code books. The test
will cover the Code book and the Citys amendments to the code.
Code books can be used at the City of Longmont Library or purchased at technical bookstores
or through the International Code Councils web site http://www.iccsafe.org
The amendments can be picked up at the Building Inspection office, in the Development Services Center or downloaded from this site (Longmont's
adopted codes and amendments).
The cost for the test is $100, is non-refundable and needs to be paid before the test is administered. Test results are generally available shortly after
the test is completed.
The contractor license application will be required pending contractor test
results (Contractor Applications).
