What is Interlibrary Loan?
If you have a valid Longmont Public Library card and our library does not own the journal or photocopy that you want, you may ask that we request a photocopy from another library. Please provide information on the citation or article that you want copied. Most items are available at no charge, but please indicate the maximum amount you would be willing to pay if there is a charge from the lending library. Copyright law prohibits requesting more than one article from a specific journal.
What can be requested through Interlibrary Loan?
Periodical articles or specific sections from a photocopy may be requested. Libraries will not lend some items under any circumstances. These include entire magazines, reference photocopy, rare or fragile books, most genealogical items, and local history materials. Some libraries may photocopy these items on a limited basis.
May I request Interlibrary Loans over the telephone?
Yes, call the appropriate desk number. If you have many requests to make, we prefer that you fill out the forms in person or use the online forms. All Interlibrary Loan items are checked out on your library card using Longmont Public Library's computer system. Due dates on these items are set by the lending library and are not usually renewable. Overdue items will accumulate fines at the current rate of $.10/day for books, audiocassettes, videos, and DVDs.
Please return all items to Longmont Public Library by the due date. Thank you!

| NOTICE: WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONSThe Copyright Law of the United State (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law. I have read the copyright statement and agree to comply with these restrictions. |
