Recreation Services

Year-Round Programs
- Alive at 25 -Longmont Recreation Services hosts “Alive at 25” - a national program intended to teach young drivers, ages 15-24, to be aware of the many dangers and typical driving hazards facing young motorists today
- CARA Diving - Longmont Recreation Services offers CARA diving year round for youth 6 years and older
Fall Programs
- Youth Volleyball - Longmont Recreation Services offers a coed Youth Volleyball team-participation program for youth in grades 3-8. Fall and Spring Leagues are offered. Fall registration deadline is August 22.
- Fall CARA Cross Country – For boys and girls ages 9-14 years, Longmont Recreation Services’ Fall CARA Cross Country program exposes participants to running long distances in a recreational atmosphere.
- Youth Archery – Longmont Recreation Services offers three levels of instructor for youth ages 10 to 17 years of age: Beginner Archery, Intermediate Archery, and Advanced Archery. Month-long classes are offered once a week in September and October.
- Youth and Teen Learn to Sew Youth: 7-12years; Teens 12-16years
Great class for boys and girls with little or no experience. Sewing machine provided, kids will learn machine sewing and complete a project.
- Youth Art: 7-15 years
Kids will tap into their creativity with these fine art classes. Join us for drawing classes galore!
Winter Programs
- YAB Youth Basketball – Longmont Recreation Services is offering YAB Youth Basketball for youth in grades three through eight. Boys and girls compete separately at each grade level.
- Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge - Longmont Recreation Services hosts the Denver Nuggets Basketball Skills Challenge competition the first week in January for boys and girls ages 7 through 14.
Spring Programs
- Longmont Youth Triathlon Club - Longmont Recreation Services offers the Youth Triathlon club for youth ages 9 to 19 to develop swimming, cycling and running abilities while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and having fun!
- Youth Volleyball - Longmont Recreation Services offers a coed Youth Volleyball team-participation program for youth in grades 3-8. Fall and Spring Leagues are offered. Spring registration deadline is March 25.
Summer Programs

Outdoor Adventure Camp
Look for 2012 registration in spring 2012!
Have your kids outgrown the typical summer camp? The City of Longmont, Recreation Services, has the answer for you! The SPOT (Summer Programs & Outdoor Trips) is an outdoors oriented, adventure based camp that runs for six weeks over the summer for youth ages 12-16.
Each three day session generally consists of one 9-5 day and then two days joined by an overnight. Activities vary by week, but include hiking, rafting, camping, mountain biking, swimming, tree and rock climbing, Elitch Gardens, and Water World. The sixth week concludes the summer with a three day canoeing trip down the Colorado River.

Babysitter Training Classes
If you’re 11 to 15 years old, you can get the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. This American Red Cross class combines video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience. Please bring pen, snacks, and/or sack lunch to class. Classes are held at Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St, Longmont unless otherwise noted.
Cost is $55 resident/ $68.75 non-residents and includes reference books and CD

Babysitter’s Boot Camp
Three classes in one – American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training, First Aid, and CPR class for infants and children. Great for both experienced and novice babysitters. For ages 12 and older. Please bring pen, lunch, and snacks, if desired.

Alive at 25
The “Alive at 25” course is a national program intended to teach young
drivers, ages 15-24, to be aware of the many dangers and typical
driving hazards facing young motorists today. Traffic crashes are the
leading cause of teen fatalities, accounting for 44% of teen deaths in
the U.S. “Alive at 25” is designed to be an early intervention program
to help prevent traffic violations, collisions, and/or fatalities. For
more information call 1-866-605-3900. Registration is taken at www.aliveat25.us. For individuals ages 15 to 24 years. Class held at the St Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave, Longmont.
